The 9/11 Unit
In the fall of 2015, the students in Participation in Government and Senior Experience partnered with Tuesday's Children, a 9/11 organization for their fall service project. In preparation for their work with Tuesday's Children, a 9/11 unit of instruction was introduced. Each semester our students have the opportunity to learn about the tragic events of 9/11 beginning with the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the events and stories of September 11, 2001, the impact of American culture on healing the U.S., changes in domestic and foreign policy and ultimately the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
At the conclusion of the unit of study, our students have the opportunity to visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in Manhattan.
