Tuesday’s Children was founded to foster long term healing in families directly impacted by the events of September 11th. Our mission today is to keep the promise to those families while serving and supporting all families affected by acts of terror worldwide.
Out of the hundreds of organizations that were formed after September 11th, Tuesday’s Children is among the handful that are left today to help those directly impacted by the tragedy. Formed by individuals within the community, family members and partners impacted by 9/11 and dedicated to supporting children who lost a parent, Tuesday’s Children initially focused on family engagement, mentoring and resilience. They continue to expand in the decade after 9/11 and provide services to families who experienced a loss, responders who worked in recovery efforts, veterans of post 9/11 military operations, children from around the world impacted by terrorism, and other local and regional communities experiencing tragedy. Tuesday’s Children was founded to promote long-term healing in all those directly impacted by the events of September 11, 2001. Their mission today is to keep the promise to those children and families while serving and supporting communities affected by acts of terror worldwide. Today, 14 years later, Tuesday’s Children continues to provide direct services and continuous outreach to approximately 10,000 individuals. They have created an unprecedented level of trust with families, which experts view as a prerequisite to delivery of effective long-term services. Our roster of programs is continually evolving to meet the changing needs of the families we serve. |
